Finn's basic training had included much the same that Diana's had, sounds like. He can cook things well enough to survive but that's about it. And he never learned how to use anything like the equipment around here.

Not that he's complaining really. He agrees that it's good the Draconae expect them to fend for themselves and he respects that. He just doesn't want to half starve because of it.
