[He mulls that over for a moment. He can't say it's particularly surprising, coming from the empire that he has, but it is nonetheless... another somber pill to swallow.] So such summons started only somewhat recently?

[Or Thorne is particularly unskilled at sweeping over their own history. Or, worse yet: they simply do not care. Still, his time in Thorne has been long enough to detect they attempt to maintain an air about their home. Of innocence, mixed with a craven superiority.

His perceptions may be coded from certain experiences.

He means to ask what, exactly, happened to those first people, but he is caught by the more prominent question. It is, unfortunately, not something he can hide much better than behind bandages or his clothing.

He disrobed knowing it would be a possibility. It is the same with his scars, is it not? But Kyle clearly has the propensity to be bold enough to ask.]


Before. [He answers shortly, breathing deep; one of the frogs hops close again, to the edge of the water, weighing its choices. He settles his arm near it, but not too close to startle it.] It is a permanent wound. [From home, in its way, but it will only continue to spread if he ever primes here.

The best I can do is not disturb others with the sight of it. [He pauses, realizing what he's said.] Not that I mean to imply anything of yourself --

[He pauses. It's not to say he has not noticed. He has absolutely noticed the scars. The impossibility would be to not see them at all.] The ink on your skin... it is a dragon, is it not?

[All right, so he's done more than glance.]
