Diana risks the briefest look over her shoulder when the light flares, and wishes she hadn't. It's too easy to see what could have been, what had been before darkness had devoured this village. She spies the dishes on the table, neatly folded laundry, and a doll peeking out from beneath the bed. It hurts to see, and she turns her attention back to the creatures outside the shack with a heavy heart.
The light disappears, and part of her is grateful for it. As much as she aches to save these people, even she knows that there is nothing to be done for them now. She is ready to leave this place, as she imagines Shepard is, too.
Before she can answer, the door shatters inward, sending shards of wood scattering into the small room. Diana's arms come up just in time to shield her face, but she can't side-step the brunt of the blow. When she lowers her arm, her teeth are bared and her sword arm up. "We need to get out of here now!" She doesn't take the time to offer more; she dashes to the side and throws her shoulder into the side of the small building. Even if it hadn't been abandoned and rotting for so long, it would have given beneath the force of her blow, leaving a large enough space for them to get through. She gestures for Shepard to follow her; Diana steps out first, ready to defend against anything that may be waiting for them.
sure!
