Usually, yeah. Good point.

[ He pulls the goggles over his eyes, taking a moment to arrange his hair so it isn’t stuck underneath and probably most likely won’t catch fire. ]

Hey, you don’t know what my body is gonna see as appropriate in this scenario.

[ He’s not particularly clumsy, really, just tall and noodle-like and if he could make the comparison to one of those inflatable guys that sit outside of car dealerships, he would. But he has a steady hand, and falling into the furnace is not going to be particularly high on the list of things that could conceivably happen.

It’s still a little unnerving, though, to be so close to the flames. It briefly calls to mind a traumatic experience with a house fire and a deadbeat father, but he pushes that aside quickly and focuses on his work heating the metal. He manages to not catch on fire, but he does glance at Hilda every now and then to make certain he’s not totally screwing this up.

He nearly jumps when he sees the steel turning a bright, glowing yellow, and hesitantly pulls away from the flames.

Now, right? [ It better be now, because the steel is already out. ] Now what?
