[ That's exactly what Geralt is suggesting. Either something that night during the Dimming or it started earlier, when they were all forced into the Horizon. Or even earlier before that—with the summoning spell itself. It's possible the ramifications weren't felt for months.

In the end, he hasn't any idea. No one he's spoken to is sure, either. Not Yennefer, not Istredd, not Stephen Strange. Beyond shaking down Thorne's mages themselves for the secrets they undoubtedly hold, there aren't many Summoned more knowledgeable about magic and the monoliths than those three.

Their connection to this world is more than apparent by now. He's felt it since the first time he entered the Horizon. For all that he's paid no mind to learn magic or spells as others have, the Singularity has nonetheless granted him abilities. Ones he never asked for. ]

I've gathered the same. [ Sam had relayed a similar message to him. It makes sense. The Free Cities relies on magic as much as the other territories. They simply do not practice it in the same manner, but he suspects were the Singularity to shatter, it'd fuck with all their little inventions that keep the city going. And that's a charitable interpretation of the consequences. More than likely, the entire world would shatter with it. ] If you figure anything out, I'd like to hear it.
