[ With a small smile, Claire nods in confirmation at his second question. Where a wedding ring should be, she rubs her thumb along her finger, not thinking about it, a habit even minus the silver band. ]

He was. I married when I went back in time, so there's the positive. I had husband, a family. But then war...

[ Marrying a soldier (three of them!) was never going to be easy, and for a long time, it was only miserable. Knowing she couldn't change history, and that Jamie would meet a terrible end, had made for a depressing final six months with him. ]

Jamie was a leader, he wouldn't have abandoned his men to travel to a safer time even if he could've. But he could send me, and our child, so he did. Twenty years we were apart, I raised our daughter with another man because history told me Jamie should've died. When I found out he didn't, I went back two hundred years again and tracked him down.

[ Her last sentiment confirms the first question, that it's only those two points, so she pauses, then smiles; things may be up in the air and slightly chaotic back home, but she has Jamie. ]

I can be long-winded, but I think I got your answer in there somewhere.
