"She's not used to receiving the type of gifts she hands out, so this has been a lot for her. We'd all have had a much worse time adjusting to this place, if the inn hadn't been offered." When the Summoned first arrived all that time ago they really had no place to go to, but Mags and Sam made that deal early on and she's become Summoned central since. She even lets people settle in before they can start paying for their room, a good person indeed. Completely redoing the inn for free is the least they can do.

The reaction others have to those who are born different or with power. Jesper actually isn't that bitter about it, he's quite understanding about fear. It doesn't mean he's going to allow that to batter him down, no, but he isn't angry either.
