[ Steve is a different person when he laughs, Jesper sees that right away. Warmer, less hindered by whatever's on his shoulders. Jesper doesn't actually know, he hasn't been told all about their history, but he's a very observant young man. It was his job to always get a beat on the people around him, to be the right hand of someone who had too many things in the air.
Steve seems a little on the serious side most of the time, although his smiles are very pretty, but he doesn't strike Jesper as someone who laughs enough. Sam and Jesper are laughers, they have big senses of humor, but their best friends are both people a little too serious for their own good. Jesper isn't so foolish as to think that just because he and Kaz found their way to each other, everyone should live and be with their best friend. Relationships are complicated. If Steve and Sam aren't in one currently, they've got their reasons. He was just hinting. A little bit. His gray eyes are watchful, curious at the reaction he gets. ]
I know, mate.
[ There's no reason to cross off possibilities, in his opinion. It may never happen and that's alright too. Jesper studies him, a smile on his lips, but something goes a little more serious in his gaze. ]
I have a dad back home, he's nothing like Sam, but I know he'd appreciate how Sam's looked out for me since I got here. He's become family to me too.
[ From the first moment they met, Sam's kept an eye on him. Jesper may act like he's older because he's had a lot of life experience in his short years, but he's still a teenager, and he probably did need someone to watch out for him. It's not exactly something you look for, or at least he wasn't. ]
He's always doing that for everyone else, and people like that, they don't look out for their own happiness. And I'm not saying that has to be anything other than having a best friend to watch your back and sneak you away when your friends upgrade your room.
[ Jesper shrugs and spreads his hands out. ]
But in case could mean you two finding other people too, who knows what the future holds, yeah?
