[ Fortunately, Dion need not explain what a chocobo is. Geralt seems to recognize the breed. ] We have only horses.

[ Though he can see the appeal of the birds. The chocobos, he means. They're sturdy, durable, and can seem to withstand a variety of climates and environments. If Dion's world is without horses—save for one mythical steed—then it stands to reason they'd turn to chocobos.

Regardless, Dion can gather that horses are used as his flightless birds would be. Mounts. Carriages and wagons. (Valued travelling companions.)

They walk in silence for a while longer—or Geralt does, at least—until he eventually mounts one of the horses carrying their saddlebags. She's a larger breed than the ones he's used to seeing in Cadens. Much more like the horses of the Continent. Under the moonlight, her grey coat shines silver. ]
