A dog though he may be at heart, Sandor seems just as comfortable giving orders as he is receiving them. He's as used to wearing a leash as he is commanding a battlefield, and in this case he seems to spare no second thought to issuing them out to Wrench either. It's not a matter of ego, or of control — he just knows what needs to be done, and how best to do it. If Wrench is willing to listen to him on certain points, he's smarter for it. Let the other man issue his own orders when he knows how to wield the weapon. Until then, Sandor will take point — but not relish in it the way some other men might.

It could be worse. There are men who seek to own other men, and use them. For all his faults, that isn't on Sandor's lengthy list.

They take up a table at the back, in a corner, angled to see the whole of the room. Part antisocial behavior, part paranoid habit. He takes his drink without so much as a thanks, and is two swallows in before he answers.
