OPEN | Cadens.

With the winds whipping through the whole of the continent and the sandstorms in the desert, the streets of Cadens are less packed than usual -- but never quite empty, not in a place as huge and populated as Cadens. People still have places to be and jobs to do, even when they shutter their windows tight and try to keep their time outside to a minimum.

Ciri can be found around Cadens geared up in her riding leathers and cloak, with sand-proof respirator and goggles (courtesy of Rio Enterprises). She's no stranger to sandstorms in the desert by now, but usually encounters them out in the middle of nowhere; high winds and debris in the air are definitely more likely to cause havoc in the city than out near the Badlands. At least there are no giant desert worms here.

When most folks would rather spend their time sheltering indoors, jobs for those willing to brave the storm are easy enough to find. Ciri can be seen running errands for local merchants she's on good terms with, delivering supplies or helping fortify buildings against the storm. Outside the city, on the supply roads leading to and from the military outposts, wagons get stuck and horses get spooked. Ciri goes out on horseback (her mare, Nixie, has long been outfitted for appropriate gear as well) to escort lost and stuck wagons back to the city. And with the storms causing disruptions all around, some of the monsters that might otherwise stay farther away from the populated areas have gotten braver, or simply just lost. The sand scorpions are especially difficult to see and avoid, and the occasional pack of aggressive juvenile sandskids will go after spooked horses (or people) straying from the better-patrolled roads. Maybe that's you-- or maybe you're also out here armed and ready for a hunt.

About a week into the relentless storms, one may encounter Ciri running around the city looking visibly upset even through her mask. She's shouting something over the wind, climbing up to higher vantage points (catch her jumping between shop roofs, much to the owners' annoyance) and obviously frantically looking for something. Maybe she approaches you with a question: Have you seen a little white leosylph?
