Arthur does as instructed, settling himself in and trying to pretend that this is all perfectly normal. He hangs out in castles all the time! Which is almost true, he does have his own here.

"Repairing our forts wasn't high on anyone's priority list," is what he settles for. It's quite true. "Not much need. Very small place, Wellington Wells. With nothing anyone wants."
