[ Within Annabeth's presence, more and more of what makes him Percy — particularly her Percy — finds its place into his current form so that they could very well be two demigods from a long-forgotten pantheon that wound up on this strange planet all those centuries ago, stranded and so far from home, learning how to build an entirely new life here — together.

And at the very core of everything that led Percy and Annabeth to where they stand now, here at the edge of the water, is the fact that they had done it all together. That's what being each other's tether is; always connected, to lead and to follow, and to cross each other's paths no matter the circumstance. Eight hundred some years of circumstances, in fact — with so many lives, great and small, that had passed by them like whispers.

The grin softens enough for the intensity of his love for her to show in his eyes before he murmurs, teasing: ]

Bossy.

[ But he doesn't hesitate to obey her request, closing the small space between them so he can lean in to press his lips to hers. It's soft and warm and there's the lingering taste of salt and the ocean that has become synonymous with the very element that he has become in his godhood. Fingers gently trace the shape of her shoulder, skimming along the edge of her before pausing.

Or perhaps waiting. ]
