[ It doesn't come as any surprise to find that Azem would rather not use a mortal as bait if there is any other option. Aegis knows part of that comes from her fondness for the humans, but she does back up her choice as well; she would understand her own demigod best, and if it's gods that it would have a taste for, then so be it.

Despite the fact that Aegis is the one who was jokingly put up as bait when they first discussed the runaway demigod, it seems that Cid will be taking over that role in practice. Aegis hardly takes any offense. He would have gone with either plan, but he's happy to leave it to Cid.

Of course, he does have to give both of them a hard time for it first. He lets out a scoff. ]

Suddenly I'm not good enough, is that it? I suppose we are all out of ambrosia.

[ He doesn't let them get too sidetracked, however, instead moving to join Azem so that they can put themselves into position for their thrown-together plan. ]

Well, Cid, let's see if you make for decent bait. [ His grip tightens around the handle of his gunblade. ] We'll be ready.

[ The pond, with its strange milky water, continues to show no signs of life beyond a few bubbles that pop at the surface here and there. The demigod is certainly leaving them in suspense. ]
