"You're useful for more than something," she insists as she easily settles against him again. Then she burrows a little closer at his admission, free hand reaching across for his and squeezing, holding on.
"No one ever said loneliness as a choice is easy. But it does feel like..." She wonders what the right words is for a few seconds. "Less. Less risk of your heart, your emotions, your personal feelings. Which makes it sound, on paper, as though it should be easy, safe. And it can be, I suppose, depending on how long you're willing to stay here, how much you miss the closeness of others."
If she's being honest, she's never been good at alone, as much as she thinks she wants it. She came all the way up the mountain to be alone, but not quite.
"I do alright until it's truly time to be alone, alone. When there's no one in the dark beside me. No one to make happy, no one to..." she trails off and lets out a breath.
