[ The festival is in full swing and the joy there could be felt by anyone. This is the energy of people who care about the art but also about each other, about the familiarity of Libertas and what it means to the world and its borders. The smell of multiple foods wafts in the air, a musical jig begins with violins and drums, and Jesper is the opposite of Steve. He's connected to his very being.

He notices the change in him when he mentioned the attack and internally smacks himself. He's trying to cheer up his father, not remind him of bad times, but on the other hand, bad times turn into good times, with enough years passing. It can't always be great. Human lives are short but they require ups and downs in able to thrive. The same could be true of gods. ]

We did help them, Dad. And we still do, in all the ways we can.

[ Jesper gestures as they pass statues and clay made of the gods themselves. None of Steve though, but he might recognize ones of people he knows. The love the people have is there in every curve of the material, in the effort put into who they want to represent. There are at least two of Jesper himself, made for married couples most often. The art about the gods is similar to historical reimaginings, built for museums if not for people's apartments, but still on display. ]

They're resilient. So were we, once upon a time.
