[ Steve nods, as Jesper isn't wrong about any of what he says. They all help mortals, and while some of them do it more willingly than others, the fact that negative effects follow if they don't seems to indicate that to some degree, it's their purpose. It's why they're still here, and why their lives have extended into the centuries.

Jesper's point is that there's no reason not to have fun and enjoy themselves in the meantime, and yet that approach has never come naturally to Steve. It takes someone like Jesper to drag him into it, though now that he's here, he'll admit that it was worth it to come here and see all this.

He doesn't react to the smells of fresh street food, and it's debatable if he can even still use that sense, but he does find himself drawn toward the music. As they stroll through what feels as if it's a city-wide party, he does also note the various statues of the gods who are most worshipped in the Free Cities. It's a relief not to see himself here, though he suspects it's only because the people would find it redundant to make a statue of him. ]

If anything, I think they give us too much credit. So much of what they've done is all thanks to them, with us just helping here and there along the way.
