He gets them too, even if they might be asking for different things. A lot of it has to do with being frustrated that their parents have ordered them to behave.
He lets Shepard have her convincing lie and follows after her without much more said on the subject. They've had to learn which echoes to tune out and which ones to focus in on, and he's certain Shepard's all too comfortable with doing that by now.
"Nothing for now, but that doesn't mean that I won't hear a worthy echo along the way." Cadens is a bustling place, after all. So he falls into place with her, scanning the alleyways and main thoroughfares that they pass on the patrol, pausing when Shepard wants to leave another calling card.
Then, during one of those pauses he somehow goes even more still than usual as he focuses in on a particular cry for help as it reverberates around in his mind.
