[ Percy knows.

He knows how much she loves him because it's as much as he loves her.

They're partners in every way; they can read each other's cues, they know when the other will move in one direction so they can fill the other. They're each other's back-up, each other's support. They'll hold each other's hand, keep the other tethered, keep the other afloat.

He doesn't need her to prove anything to him, but he knows it's what she needs to do and he'll respond in kind.

The bubble around them flickers for the briefest of moments, barely even a blip, less than a second. The thin skin that forms a wall between water and air suddenly dissolves just long enough to let a mist through — a reflection of Percy's focus becoming undone by Annabeth's touch, and proof that his concentration isn't impermeable to distraction.

But he kisses her back nevertheless, with the same intensity, the same gratitude and care and relief that she's herself again, in his arms. They're together, and that's what matters most. ]
