[ Even though they may not be present when the rider appears from the waves, having already set up in the village and ensured that all of its occupants are a safe distance away, Steve can still feel it. There's a change in the air, a tension added to it — not unlike when one of the god-like figures back home was about to appear and turn the tide of a fight.

Back then, at least it had normally been in his favor. This is different.

Still, they become more and more like gods themselves with the passing days. While Steve makes himself feel a little less awkward about it when he considers that Thor had slotted in just fine with all of his human teammates, it's a strange thought nonetheless.

No time to think about all of that now. While Cid has placed himself on top of one of the rooftops, Steve remains on ground level hidden behind one of the houses, where he'll best be able to ambush the demigod and bring all of his strength to bear against it. He watches as the bright, purple lightning (so unlike Thor's, which glows so bright blue it's almost blinding) arcs down from the rooftop to smash into Odin and engulf his horse.

Unfortunately, it seems to be little more than an annoyance to the demigod, but there's plenty more where that came from.

Steve waits as Cid leaps in, knowing how important patience is with a plan like this. He needs to hear the signal first, but as soon as he's called for he barrels out from his hiding spot and runs at the rider full-tilt. Cid's commanded Odin's full attention with his attacks, and so Steve has all the space he needs to close the distance.

By the time that Odin notices, it's too late. Steve leaps off the ground and up, higher than any human could. He lands inelegantly on the horse's back, though only long enough to wrap his arms around the rider's shoulders and neck, jerking hard to one side to send back of them careening off of Sleipnir. They hit the ground hard, but Steve doesn't take even a second to catch his breath, slamming his knee into Odin's gut as he reaches out to try and wrench its blade from its hands. ]
