It's strange, to have followed in his footsteps in many ways, even if their paths have parted as he says. It's been the same for Kassa - his self-imposed isolation, the heartache of leaving lessened only slightly by the joy of reuniting. They may go years and decades without seeing each other, their memories blurred by the time in between, but they always find their way back together again eventually.

Perhaps there is something more that binds them to one another. Serenity can see all of time laid out before her, yet their own destinies are a mystery to her. Perhaps it really is as simple and true as the unconditional love of family.

They have to enjoy this moment while they can. So Serenity smiles and leans back in to give her father another hug, resting her head against his shoulder for a moment of that childlike sweetness in the midst of all the rest.

"It will. I'll make sure of it. We'll go together."

If she can't see their futures, then they'll just have to write it themselves, following whatever thread it is that ties them all together.
