Or it was. Like I said, it's been destroyed for a few years.

Eclector M-Ship GK9.

[ This is not a name - it's an identifier. It works just as well. She shrugs from her position, shifting to change the way she leans. ]

Didn't name it, if I had it wouldn't have been something stupid. [ Like Milano. ] Sure as hell wasn't attached to it, the only thing that mattered to me was it getting me to my goal.

People do that where I'm from. Name their cars and such. I never really understood it but I also never had to do it. They didn't really want to let e drive. Something about the lack of sight and all.

Naming them makes it easier for interplanetary docking, but then you run the risk of someone mocking you when you name it something stupid. Like Taserface.

[ Stupid names. She snorts. ]

Terran vehicles aren't worth their adoration, they'd be better off as scrap metal. You didn't lose out on anything.

( matt has to wonder if she'd just made that name up or if someone had actually named something that where she was from. )

Guess I can cross that off my list when it comes to naming something of mine. Don't know if I agree they're better off as a scrap. Cars seem to help a lot of people to get around. There are things you can't get to via walking.

[ Said with all the inclination of someone saying, "and it's a stupid one". Helpfully added in mocking dryness: ]

If you ever considered that one I'd think you were stupider than you look. [ A pause, brief. ] Maybe on Earth they're worth something, but to most places they look like little more than silly child's toys. The mechanics of them has nonsensical designs.

[ At least she's willing to relent a little??? ]

Hey, I won't really argue with that. I think a lot of people use them on Earth because they don't have access to cool ships.

( like hers. )

It's either walk, public transportation, cars or some other option that I haven't really thought about. Roller skates, maybe.

( nebula on roller skates. there was a thought. )

[ If she was someone else - Rocket maybe - she might preen at the idea her ship was cool. She's not and she's not particularly attached to this one (she tells herself). At least she doesn't comment on most of it... until she frowns: ]

The hell are roller skates?

( that's not exactly a surprise to him. he chuckles. )

It's something you strap onto your feet. There's wheels on the bottom. It's a lot harder than it sounds.

We have better ways of transportation.

[ She stops herself from saying something along the lines of "primitive," at least. ]

Doesn't sound convenient. Does it even work along all terrain?

I think it's more for fun than anything else.

( skatng rinks and all. )

It's not intended to take to work or go on long trips. Kids play with them. Adults sometimes too. It's just for fun.

[furibund]

For fun.

[ Nebula lets him speak entirely before repeating the phrase. The phrase doesn't feel as foreign as it once had - something that was in fact a commodity she hadn't experienced until a few short years ago. She still doesn't always know how to tell if something is fun - or if she'd find it such - and she doesn't make time for it. ]

[ Not really, because for her there's always work to be done. At least these days it's not work and threat of torture - "fun" in whatever manner she's decided is such comes more frequently.]

[ But it's because of this she lets the phrase hang in the air, stung with the taste of someone's biting consideration. Like she's trying to think if she'd consider such a thing fun until finally, finally, she rolls out a shrug and the puff of a breath: ]

Whatever entertains them. [ I guess. Doesn't sound fun to me, it might even sound like. ] Doesn't matter here, their idea of fun is letting screaming goats live.

What did the goats ever do to you?

( matt says it lightly because he doesn't really expect an answer to it. this place does have a bit of a warped version of fun or it doesn't let you have fun at all because you were too busy trying to not get killed. )

So, what's your idea of fun?

They didn't stop screaming and ate half our ship.

[ 'Ate half our ship,' is over-exaggerating but look she was 5 seconds from killing some so... ]

[ A pause as she shrugs, glancing away: ]

Never really thought about it. Fun wasn't a word in my father's vocabulary and now there's too much work to do.

Really?

( he won't argue the father part because he knows that a lot of people have issues with their families.

You're on the Horizon right now. That could be construed as you having fun.

[furibund]

How?

[ Her remark is quick, if a touch... perplexed? annoyed at the implication? It's a mixture, ]

I was told this is the best place for Summoned to communicate across territory. That's what we're doing right now, communicating.

Unless you call this fun. [ A teasing sentiment, a quick jab, as if to say: I know better than to think talking to me is fun. ]

Hey, fun has different definitions to different people. Maybe you're definition of fun is being grumpy at people.

( said almost affectionately. he flicks a smile up at her. )

But you're not wrong about the Horizon. It is a good way to communicate. But, with all the things you can do here? You could do whatever you want. And call it fun.

[furibund]

I'm not grumpy.

[ She returns tartly with a low sound as if to say: I'm always this way. Which "this way," really is some form of grunty/grumbly grumpy... But that's a different story. She glances away unapologetically, with a roll of her eyes. ]

Seems like a waste of time, with none of it being real. Unless the clue to getting off this planet is here. [ And she doubts it is, especially with their recent experiences. ]

It could be.

( not that he knows for certain. but considering this is one of those places that only the summoned can access? maybe there's something here.

he won't press on the grumpy part. )

But I would think that the key to getting off this place is a combination of things. And if we haven't found it yet, it might take a long time to figure it out. People have been here for years.

[ She snorts. ]

Not including that time.

[ It's both a statement and a question. Just because it feels real doesn't make the information real, because it's not. Probably. ]

You'd think taking all these people, they'd at least try and advance their technology with them.-

I think there's a lot of things that they should be doing with all these people here but —

( but nothing's happened. they've moved closer to a war but that's about it. he shrugs. )

And from what I've heard, Solvunn and Thorne are even less technologically advanced and the Free Cities. They want us here for some reason but not for what we know about tech at least.
