Claire isn't normally in the business of chopping and burning gorgeous trees, so her she has no idea how well it burns. But it makes sense, if trying to burn a body at the same time, so no true complaints from her. Still, she's glad for firewood she can simply cut the simplest of trees from closer to home.

"I would assume there are more, unless this is one special tree for exactly that sort of sacrifice. Still, I hope there are more, there must be based on pollination alone. Somewhere. I can help things along at the very least."

And she does exactly what he assumed, taking a handful of the branches and spacing them out while he works, taking into account the eventual branches' need to grow and spread. She can imagine this in half a century, a copse of leaves with sunlight faintly trickling in. She wonders if she'll be here for that.

When she's finished, she goes back to Michael, ties back her hair, and begins to help. Now that they've found what they were looking for, they must take it all back.
