It doesn't matter if Susan stares. Eponine's not looking, refusing to look or acknowledge. Nobody ever looks at her. Why would they look now? She keeps her own gaze on the guards, formulating a plan.
"A game of chance, Miss Sue. For we have talents, you and I. You are lovely enough that you might distract the guard, whilst my fingers are light enough that I might pick his pocket and see what we might find. Do you dare, Susan? Oh, say so! Just fancy, we might find a key to escape, or... something."
She grins, dull eyes lighting with the thrill of the ridiculous caper. "Shall we?"
