"Who's to say I haven't?" Jesper says with a grin, echoing Steve's own thoughts. "I've gotten into a little trouble, but I'm good at getting around armies." Grisha like him were forced into servitude by the Ravkan army, either that or killed by the enemy, so he's been avoiding that since he was a child.
His father put it into his ear when he was barely walking that he was an object to their enemies, not a real person. A tool or a monster. It led him to be exceedingly careful with how he uses his powers. Even if Cadens does catch them, and they probably will, he's left no trace behind of how they got in here. Unless they spot him using something like that actively, there's no reason for them to suspect the level he's at. He'll keep skating by. And if not he'll adapt.
Jesper kneels down and puts both of his hands against the ground. What happens next is only something that he can sense as echolocation vibrates through the ground in every direction. It can't give him the exact location of everything, although it does tell him footsteps are elsewhere which means the distraction worked. But if someone is staying still, he doesn't know right away. He can get general physical images that he feels rather than sees. The more large items, the more important the area as it's stored, so he filters out options.
"I think this way. I can sense a lot of heavy equipment, like a workshop." He would probably sense the same out of Viktor's workshop back home. Jesper walks in that direction and gestures for Steve to follow. He leans down to brush his fingers against the ground every little while to make certain they're headed in the right direction.
"If we come across people, no fatalities, right?" He's not saying it to Steve, he's making certain. Because Jesper's a killer through and through.
