Frankly, it'd be useful as hell in combat. He can't count the number of times he's had a sword knocked out of his hand; being able to Luke Skywalker it back might be a total game changer. He will, of course, need to make sure that he doesn't accidentally impale himself with it in the freaking process first, so... practice. Months of practice.
The next little spell, man, he'd love to be able to nail anywhere near as quickly. It looks awesome, full-on flux capacitor stuff. Unfortunately, a few frustrating repetitions of the gesture with a slowly deepening furrow in his brow, and he barely gets more than the kind of flint-spark an empty bic lighter might produce.
