"I'm with you there." Nor does Steve really like to think about the whole god thing at all when he can avoid it, but he does have to admit that it was a good wry comment on Jesper's part.
Either way, they need to keep moving, and it doesn't shock Steve that Jesper has to stop him and check things again. It would be way, way too easy for them to just be able to waltz right into the R&D area. He's not sure how much time it's going to take for them to figure out how to overclock the systems and use the weaponry itself to destroy what's in there, so sneaking past isn't much of an option either.
He does start to hear the chatter among the remaining guards, as well as some shuffling around or shifting of weapons in their arms. Whether it's three or four, he doesn't really think it makes much of difference. They may be armed, but they're still normal humans, and so it won't present much difficulty for him to take them out. Especially with Jesper backing him up.
He nods, then steps past Jesper and right up against the wall that's around the corner from the guards. There's a good chunk of hallway between them still, which means that they're going to have to close the distance fast.
Except then Steve hears one of them walking this way, and realizes there's an opportunity. He holds a hand up to Jesper, signaling him to wait, and waits silently for the guard to pass them. As soon as the guard steps past the wall, Steve yanks him into a grapple. He smashes a hand over his mouth to keep him as quiet as he can, then drags him to the wall and knocks his head against it, hard enough to make him crumple to the floor, passed out.
He nods to Jesper. "All right, let's go and get the rest of 'em."
