"Practice. So much practice." Julia has absolute control over the electricity glowing and sparking between her fingers, but it wasn't always that way. "The first spell I ever did was this one."
Julia lets go of the jolt and instead puts her fingers all together, and flicks them together at once. Instead of a spark it turns into full on lit up fingers of electricity, and she flexes her fingers, letting it go. "You can probably do that. Just flick them the way you would a lighter, all at once." She puts her hands over his again, her tiny fingers on top of his, and she shows him how to flick them. And then lets them go so he can try it on his own.
This is not likely to get something thrown at his head but it can feel like fireworks are going from his fingertips.
"My specialization is apparently Meta-Composition, if I went to magic school. It means I get how magic works on a fundamental level." It's why Julia makes an excellent teacher, many Knowledge Brakebills students end up professors. Because the way they look at magic and use it are about breaking down how it works and how the spell functions.
