[John untucks the small stack of letters from where he has tucked them safe inside his jacket, handing them over when Geralt gestures to him. The box is notable for the simple fact that Geralt does not seem to keep many sentimental things — that he should have a special place he keeps these things indicates their worth to him. Yennefer’s worth to him.

It is a curious thing to contemplate. John has spent enough time with Geralt over the years in the Singularity to understand that the other man keeps the things that matter the most to him close to his chest. He supposes it does not really surprise him that he is only learning of whatever relationship they might have, and mostly only by accident. It is interesting to hear him speak of her now, understanding this.

But John is not a jealous man. Especially not when Geralt tells him things like that. John’s expression softens slightly and he moves to step closer to where Geralt sits perched on the desk. Reaching to rest a hand on his knee for the simple comfort of touching him.]

We have found ourselves together, here in this strange place. Against all odds. I still cannot even begin to make sense of how or why they have brought us here, but I find myself grateful for it. [He gazes up at the other man, his eyes impossibly blue.] That it has brought me to you. You are right, we cannot know for certain how much longer any of this might last, one way or another.

[His lips quirk into a soft, crooked smile.] Regardless, we had best make the most of it while we are able.
