"One of those rift monsters is teleporting all over the place, somehow. We're making a cage to capture it. It's doing the same thing they did, getting injured and then showing up again elsewhere." So it probably wouldn't work to kill it. It'd be back causing trouble again. Jesper finds that's been a good distraction. He's been creating the cage using his powers and it is the most direct way of doing so. He likes being a show off.
