As he watches Jesper turn thought after thought over, Claude thinks he can almost hear him thinking aloud. A joke that's been made about himself plenty considering his own mind never stops, and an accurate quip at that. But quiet is the right choice here as he keeps running his hand through the other man's hair at that same steady pace as he listens.
The words which follow give a special kind of ache - not one of pity or anything nearing it, but more that there's no way to predict the future. Not even with that habit of forever looking five, ten, fifty steps ahead into all the branching paths from whatever current point was in question. Idly he runs his thumb along Jesper's jaw partly to think and mostly for whatever added comfort it might bring.
"That might happen," he agrees - to an extent. "Just as much as it might not when that future taught just about anything is possible here considering I doubt any of us really thought we'd somehow end up gods. I think you trust yourself more than you're giving yourself credit for."
It's not that those worries should be erased; more so it's that when they can't be for they're something greater than this, there can be other reminders brought to bolster against it so it's not the only thoughts looping around Jesper's mind. With his hand not busy in the other's hair, Claude reaches for one of Jesper's hands to squeeze it gently. "What if instead we take things one step at a time? You're here right now rather than somewhere else, and that counts for something. Certainly also in that credit to give yourself, too."
