Jesper would sit here and let Claude tell him everything about his past. His plans, what led him to Fodlan, his reasons for everything, and he'd listen attentively, probably ask some questions, but otherwise be a sounding board and supportive throughout. He'd do that, if that's what Claude wanted to share, and he would like to get to know all those aspects of him. He wants to know everything about Claude.
But the fact is, he knows the parts that matter. He knows who he is. Jesper is a firm believer that the past doesn't dictate the future, or even the present. They are all products of their pasts, including him, and his freak out today is an example of how much that can hang on a person. But he doesn't think Claude needs to tell him every detail to understand the full package.
Jesper has given a whole lot of thought to kissing Claude over the past two and a half years. And then in hundreds of years, over two hundred of them before he experienced it for the first time, but it's been in his head for a long enough time that it's more wistful than real to him. He knew it would have to be Claude's choice. He smiles to him, a little quizzical, because he can sense something shift, and he's not sure what.
And then Claude kisses him. Jesper is surprised but it lasts only about two seconds before he's leaning into it and kissing Claude back. He keeps Claude's face cupped and lets it linger on until he has to breathe, although a part of him doesn't want to. He leans back and flashes one of his brightest grins at Claude. "You're damned right it didn't take over two hundred years this time." He pumps his free fist, triumphant.
