And considering he's bunking down with both of them, it's not exactly a secret how the two relationships are muddling into one. There will be other hikes, and Mat imagines plenty of folks would rather sleep a few more hours than go on a long, moderately difficult hike.

He's glad Wilhelm had a similar thought to him, though. He'd go mad without someone to talk to all the way up. Granted he'd talk to nearly anyone, but he quite likes the other lad.
