There's still a great deal of work to be done and the chaos of the world splitting apart means there hasn't been much time to focus on it.
Though Thancred has tried to help where and when he can, knowing that Cid and Jesper need the extra hands. He's leaving, yes, but he wants to know that those who remain here will be well taken care of, and seeing this place start to come together — it gives him hope that everything will be just fine.
Now isn't the time for work, though. The lunar eclipse is tomorrow and they have little time left to make the rounds and say their goodbyes. In truth, Himeka and Thancred have done this before, when they left the First. They're no strangers to it.
It doesn't make it any less bittersweet, especially when they don't know exactly what will happen when they step through the shards and return to Eorzea. On top of knowing that they may never be able to return to this place and see their friends again — though Y'shtola might have something to say about that.

He and Himeka arrive with plenty of ingredients to make a decent meal; Thancred's done plenty of foraging around the Feywilds with Elizabeth's counsel, allowing them to build up their food stores decently well.
