He takes the waterskins and stores them on Roach, just so Alucard isn't clutching them the entire way. Takes the small pack, as well. He hasn't got any idea what a vampire requires for travel. Not much, it seems, which is a good sign.
He sets off in relative silence. If he speaks, it's largely to Roach. He tells Alucard only what's needed about the job: where it is, what he expects to find in there, if he plans for it to be a problem (he doesn't).
When they stop to rest, he builds a fire. Lights it with the palm of his hand. Mostly, he's trying not to think about everything that's been happening. He wants to focus on this job. Nothing else. He has a vampire in the shape of a wolf accompanying him. It is not the strangest company he's ever chosen for a hunt, but it's close to it. ]
