Nadine has always been better at taking care of others than herself. And there was always that sense of a safety net, that Flagg was looking out for her. Even if he hadn't often directly interfered with her life, she could talk to him. She'd told him everything, when she was young. Even just that sense of him, that little part of her that felt him, was a comforting reassurance. But that's all gone now.

Technically I don't need to learn how to use it, it's enchanted in that real world. But I know better than to rely on that, I still need to know how to use it properly."
If something happens to it, or the magic it's imbued with, she'd be screwed.
