[ no, he hadn't mentioned that to geralt when they'd spoken, for a couple of reasons. part of sam had wondered if he was blowing it out of proportion, another had wanted a perspective on the rally that didn't know. sam had trusted geralt to go and draw his own conclusions, to be a point of view that could temper his own, if he needed it. plus, has hadn't even been sure what to do with their brief conversation. what effects it would have. if goro would go so far as to draw attention to it at the rally itself.
he hadn't, but that didn't give sam any reassurances, either. geralt rotates the table and sam helps, adjusting it slightly before it settles. he made a threat. sam snorts, shaking his head once and reaching down under the table to pick up a stray piece of wood. ] Among other things. [ sam knows he was never in danger. knows that no matter what goro might have been provoked into doing, it wouldn't have actually done anything to him. but the intent had been there. the rage in his eyes. and, with that, sam's understanding - that while in the horizon he had his suit, his wings, what did he have in the city itself? his shield, yes, but that would hardly be enough.
he sighs, and geralt can probably catch something in him settling into place. thoughts he's been mulling over, things he's been trying to come to terms with. it's not the first time geralt has just heard sam sort of unload, and all the while sam keeps busy. picking up pieces of the table, righting others. following geralt to the next item on the list, correcting and cleaning. ]
He's playing off their hatred towards magic- you saw that at the rally. He said some of the same shit when I spoke to him too. But he doesn't believe it. Or- maybe a part of him does, but it's not about that. For him, it's to get them to march on Solvunn and kickoff whatever tensions there is between all these factions, more than anything else. It's a game to him. He thinks war is inevitable, so he wants it to get there faster.
But I'm worried about what that's going to mean for the rest of us. [ for ciri, sam doesn't think he needs to say. it's obvious that sam, at least at this point, isn't expecting geralt to respond after each comment, doesn't wait for the other to interject. ] Since we're all magical, you know? Came through the Singularity, got those abilities from the Horizon. And if Goro's feeding on their longtime history of low-grade distrust of magic, it's only going to get worse, if anything actually gets off the ground.
