[ sam talks, and they work, and the pace they're setting is comfortable enough for both. comfortable enough for sam to wordlessly ask questions, to watch how geralt puts the pieces together, brings in his own memories that sam's only heard second hand.

because that's been a major player, for sam. the prime minister. the wants and motivations of the cities. because yes, this is a military space. he's found comfort in that level of familiarity, at least. but it also leaves them all more likely to take an active role in this war. to have agendas, ideas, motivations. goro is all the push they need to take up use of the very same weapons, the very sam training, that so many people in these cities have devoted their life to. and what will that mean, now that they also have summoned who are willing to help with those motivations? that agenda? goro's got his own plan, certainly. but that's also the problem.

despite sam's best efforts, marlo was still an unpredictable factor. someone they could neither ignore, nor rely on. he lets out a sigh as he reaches for another tool, another piece of wood, another part to the table they're building. ]

Goro thinks that the war could be how we get home. [ which...god. could that be the answer? they certainly haven't tried it yet. sam's jaw tightens for a brief moment in thought before geralt speaks, mentions amos, and then sam is looking over to him at the exact moment geralt looks up as well. for all the seriousness of the tone, sam flashes a small smile. ]

Amos was going to be my first call. [ geralt must find some kind of humor in this - that they've made the same connections, that those connections are similarly strong. still, sam nods, turns back to the work. because he might not have had his own conversation with amos to that same effect - find someone who's a good person - but sam has a feeling. of how trustworthy amos is, how he can be someone to turn to. how, if he's not on the same page, it could go south, and quickly. ] I've also got someone from home over there - don't know if you've met him yet. Tony Stark? [ eh, not important. but good lord sam is still getting used to people not knowing who tony stark is. ] He might be a hard sell, but we worked together. We can trust him.

[ rip sam wilson, trying to convince tony stark to join another war. that's...a problem for another day. ]
