EVENT #6: PEACE ON THE HORIZON

Event #6 - EVENT INFO

Those that agree to attend the Summit will travel via portals to the designated location, which is out in the open in neutral territory. Plenty of pretty mountains and flowers. A magic field is erected over this area. Characters can only enter and exit at designated portals. It is not possible to leave this encircled area, which will also negate teleportation and portal spells. Plus, you don't want to embarrass your faction by sneaking out of bounds!

Before entering, all will be given a pin that designates what faction they belong to. This pin is not only color-coded but enchanted so that even should the appearance change, mages from any faction can identify who is who. The Summoned will be required to wear this pin at all times during the Summit.

The Summoned will be offered a comfortable tent to stay in during the 3-day Summit period! There's also a communal bath and a lounge to enjoy. A simple but tasty complimentary breakfast is provided for everyone, and additional meals can be bought from the faction booths or at the lounge. See the Neutral Section detailed below for more.

As noted, CHARACTERS MAY CHANGE FACTIONS USING THIS EVENT. To switch factions, please reply to the comment here. See the OOC post (link above) for details or questions!

The "Peace" Summit
An open plain flanked by mountains to the north and south, a large circular area has been fenced off. Large poles embedded into the earth are connected with magical rings, drooping heavy in the middle as if the ethereal chains have real weight. The area is divided into thirds, each section a mass of colorful tents and booths. In the center is a large wooden stage. All attendees must sit through this keynote speech. It's only polite.

The Prime Minister of the Free Cities begins the opening address. In formal military regalia she's the first to address the crowd, raising her arms high to command attention. She's smiling.

+ Marlo's Speech"We'd like to start by welcoming all of you. For those that don't know me, I'm Marlo Renier, Prime Minister of the Free Cities. With me are Councilwoman Winifred Bordeaux of the Solvunn Communities and Queen Ellya Gladwin of the Kingdom of Thorne. We come together today in the spirit of good will. We may be divided by borders but we're all neighbors. We all share this continent. We may not always share the same opinions or agree on everything but who does? There's one thing we do agree on though - nobody is looking to start trouble. That's about the last thing anybody needs right now. That's why we're all here today. A show of good faith, a display of trust, and hopefully the first step on a long road of diplomacy and mutual understanding. And we all expect everybody on their best behavior and to conduct themselves in the spirit of this Summit.

I'm going to turn things over to Councilwoman Bordeaux now. Thank you, and you all should come check out what the Free Cities has to offer! Councilwoman?"

Marlo steps aside for the representative of Solvunn to take center stage.

+ Winifred's Speech Winifred steps forward, nodding hear head to Marlo before turning her attention to the gathered crowd. Her own attire is modest, a dress of ivory and forest green adorned with hundreds of embroidered flowers and a velvet bodice in a deep wine red.

"Thank you, Prime Minister. Some of you are likely only to know of Solvunn due to the terrible circumstances surrounding Eifstide, for which we must humbly apologize. It was not our intention to cause such pain and happened merely by accident. While that does not take away what has occurred, we do hope that we can move forward together to create a brighter, more connected continent. All of us has something to share with each other, and it is my sincerest hope that we may learn from you, as well.

The Gods smile upon the unification of our mighty communities! May we be blessed with a friendship of longevity and prosperity!. For those of you curious as to what Solvunn can do for you, look no further than this Summit's festivities. It is my pleasure to let Queen Ellya of Thorne conclude todays formalities."
+ Queen Ellya's Speech When it's Queen Ellya's turn to speak, she addresses the crowd with hands folded. For this occassion she's worn an elaborate gown of bright blue shot through with silver that seems to shift and move through the fabric.

"Such inspiring words, truly. I can only echo the sentiments put forth before me. I hope that this Summit shows to one and all that Thorne intends no aggression toward our fellow kingdoms. Certainly, through collaborative efforts such as this, understanding can be found. Tensions can be resolved. Even between such opposite minded cultures. I am confident that these few days will be very illuminating for each and every one of you. I urge you to go forth with eyes and ears open, to ensure all that can be learned is. Enjoy yourselves. Indulge yourselves. Educate yourselves. The festivities will now commence!"

Spreading her hands towards the audience, Queen Ellya slowly steps back to her place with the others.

From here on out, the festivities commence! Characters are encouraged to freely explore each faction's section as they please - and of course, to be respectful of their neighbors. They're all friends here, after all.
Mingle & Activities
Every faction has their own setup of booths and displays that feature a variety of activities and items. Booths open in the morning and close a couple hours after sundown in the evenings. Attendants at each place will be friendly, although some may notice that while the Summoned wander more freely, there is very little intermingling among the locals of each faction. The occasional dirty look may be exchanged when no one's looking and those with keen eyes might find evidence of petty bits of vandalism.

Click to expand the sections below for a description of each area.
Thorne Section
Each booth in Thorne's section are adorned with opulent fabrics in the same blues and silvers of the Queen's dress. Magically lit lanterns are strewn on the fronts and within tents and will change colors throughout the day and over the course of the weekend. Regardless of the weather, being beneath the awnings is always pleasant as if indoors in a properly warmed and ventilated room. Nothing is left wanting. Luxury and ease through the use of magic is emphasized.

Though not calling out any who wander the aisle, any who approach a booth will be greeted with a pleasant smile. Mages are eager to show off their magicks by the use of spells, staves, wands, and magical enchantments from ancient tomes. A booth from Hayle University gives demonstrations and short lectures on the hour every hour, letting the Summoned know that with enough practice they, too, can become a Master of Magicks.

For those who came with a full coin purse, there are fine wines, expensive tapestries and fabrics, sparkling accessories and more available for purchase. If you're feeling hungry, it is highly suggested that you try the decadent and delicately dressed dishes comparable to what's served in Castle Thorne itself.

Along with magic shows, the most popular booth is that of the Pondering Orb. Form an orderly line and wait for your turn to approach the orb. All will be allotted five whole minutes to think their deepest thoughts as they lay their hands upon the orb and ponder. The little bit of tingling that you feel and the faint glow that grows the longer you touch it just means that it's working.
Free Cities Section
The Free Cities area can be heard from nearly all the other sections, alive with sound and activity. There's a state of carefully balanced chaos between the different booths and lanterns are connected by long wires, powered by generators placed proudly out in front - in almost direct competition to the magical light show that Thorne has been putting on. It's just a bit of friendly rivalry, of course. There's nothing wrong with having such a strong reliance on magic, even if it seems rather outdated.

Attendants are eager to show off all their grand innovations, including meals in a can (main course and dessert all in one dubious goop can!) and a small variety of old-style guns. They are the only faction displaying these weapons. In addition, they'll talk about the impressive level of productivity their workers provide in the name of progress. Naturally, no one is forced to work overtime. It's only that their people are so dedicated to their work, even a common factory worker will go out of their way to help science and innovation. The Summoned are encouraged to consider joining a nation with such a high level of ambition, and there's always room for everyone in their powerful military.

To commemorate the event, those participating can stamp their bronze with a fancy gear pattern. It takes about fifteen seconds to press and renders the bronze worthless to spend, but what's more valuable than a souvenir? There is a sign that says No refunds if you aren't happy with the result, although if the machine happens to swallow your coin, you will be given a new bronze to stamp free of charge. Isn't that generous?
Solvunn Section
Solvunn's booths are covered with handmade tablecloths in various styles - quilted, patchwork, crochet, and intricate embroidery. Enchanted candles of all shapes and sizes float and illuminate the area, some changing color as the day goes on. When the sun sets, all the candles take on a shade that imitates moonlight.

Those who are running booths will call out to anyone who approaches, ushering them to the booths in order to ply them with friendly conversation and small samples of their wares. For the right price, there are specialty honeys, cheeses, candies, and all other manner of goat-based products. A few booths also have goat's milk soaps, lotions, and candles. Ask a Solvunnite about what good a goat is and they'll tell you everything. The mages are equally more than happy to show off their mastery, though not just in flashy elemental magic. Mages fond of divination, tealeaf readings, and interpreting tarot will offer one-on-one demonstrations, especially if you've some coin to spare.

This year, Solvunn has decided to extend its Spring Equinox celebration to the other Abraxans at the Summit! Everyone is encouraged to join in the festivities as now is the time for observing the balance of day and night. This celebration is devoted to new life - new community members, additions to their flocks, and the bringing of goodwill for the year's crops. A maypole is erected at the center of the celebration and if it stays upright until the following festival, it's taken as a sign that the community's harvest will be bountiful.

Additionally, the shrine of Lyfbringr has been erected with paintings and several small statues depicting an androgynous god that appears as an amalgamation of man, flora, and fauna. The shrine is enclosed in a tent that is half bright cheery colors and darker monochromatic shades.

Representatives of Solvunn stand by to weave colorful ribbons or rings of flowers into people's hair or tie small bells onto their wrists. There are many baby goats frolicking in a temporary paddock that guests are free to mill about in. The Summoned are invited to consider a life among a peaceful neighborly commune where help and friendship are right at your doorstep!
Neutral Section
This area is meant for everyone to mingle, but the Summoned will find they're mostly the only ones here as the locals prefer to stay within their factions. It's lightly decorated with no particular colors or emblems of any one faction. Ample ambient lighting gives the place a warm glow once the sun goes down. Wooden benches are placed sporadically between the different designated areas, making sure that no one has to go far to find a place to rest their feet.

The Lounge Tavern is open at noon for 2 hours for lunch, and then again at sunset in the evenings, where anyone can come to have a drink or a meal. Beneath the protection of a large, open air tent, seating is provided in the form of more wooden benches and long shared tables, as well as a few stools. Vintages, ales, and meads from each of the factions are available to enjoy. A few recreational activities are available, as well, such as darts and dice games. The tables and seats are placed close together, to encourage mingling and talk among each other. Though the bar is staffed by NPC volunteers, all are expected to bus their own tables when they leave.

The Sleeping Tents are where the Summoned will return to for the night to sleep. Each tent has large number of pillows, throws, and a few large mats that can be arranged as desired for optimal comfort. The ground itself is lined in animal pelts, mostly sheep and goat, making it soft and inviting. They are indeed shared, but there's plenty of room for everyone. Each tent can fit about 8-10 people - or more, if you cozy up.

The Communal Baths open in both the evenings and in the mornings for a few hours each, which is effectively an open bathhouse pool. The pool is dug into the ground itself and lined with special tile manufactured from the Free Cities, hailed for its ability to hold water without the use of special sealant. The waters are magically warmed to the ideal temperature using enchanted stones from Thorne that create a natural border around the edges, and soap (made of goat's milk, courtesy of Solvunn) and towels are provided. Here, those attending can bathe as well as use it as a mingle.

Summit Events
Meant to be a "collaboration" between the factions, the Summit also offers activities that take place on the main stage where the speeches were initially given.
Raffle
The Summoned will be provided a single courtesy raffle ticket, which they can use to enter the raffle contest. Additional tickets will cost an extra 5 bronze coins. To enter the raffle contest, fill out the comment here and we will RNG your prizes!

Regardless of luck, all those who enter will receive all 3 (one of each) of the following consolation prizes:

  • Inkless Quill: Provided by Thorne, this is a magical quill that never runs out of ink...sort of. It'll work for about a month of heavy use before it runs out of juice. The Thorne sigil will automatically watermark any pages that this quill is used to write on.
  • Tote Bag & Charm: Provided by Solvunn, this soft woven tote bag comes with a small handmade charm depicting a sigil of one of the old gods. If asked what the god or sigil means, the only answer is that you will know when your time comes.
  • Glow Ring: Provided by the Free Cities, this ring will adjust to fit any finger size. It comes with a round orb instead of a jewel that can light up on command and act as a powerful torch or flashlight. Very powerful. People have gone blind by looking directly into it for too long.
An Escaped Creature
On the second day of the event, rumor has it a small creature has gone loose! The offender in question is this little fellow, who is the size of a small poodle. The Summoned are asked to help find and catch him, if at all possible. He's noted to be harmless if mischievous, but all those in the area are warned to be careful for if he's startled, the animal will eject a magical plume from his quills that can cause one of the following temporary effects: excessive sneezing, a change in hair color, glitter bombed, or to emit a constant glowing aura.

No one knows where he came from or who brought him, but ask any of the faction attendants and they'll be liable to start pointing fingers at the other side. Nonetheless, all those who make an effort to help catch him will be thanked and available mages may attempt to help with the side effects.

If you want your character to make a real attempt at catching him, reply to the comment here by Feb 20th and we'll RNG who eventually catches him. If your character fails, however, they must take one of its side effects for the rest of the day. The choice as to which one is yours! The winner will be rewarded with a token bottle of wine for their troubles or a very fancy dessert if they don't drink.

[Look, sometimes there's mild curiosity one has to throw into the mix of depressed, anti-social dhampir. Besides, there's a net benefit, isn't there? A dhampir attending a show must count.]

I'll admit, I have rather avoided too much examination of religion here. It is enough to know it is contained. [And not y'know, murdering people.

Oh, but hats. Alucard can't help but shake his head at the gesture. Are the hats just for these moments? He wouldn't bet against the possibility.]

I admit, I thought it would be a little closer to what little I've heard back home, given-- [well, he'll trust Jaskier to fill in the blanks.] I enjoyed being contradicted as much as the overall performance.

You won't have to keep them closed for very long, I promise.

[ The feather is twirled carefully between her fingers, but she doesn't move a muscle until he either declines or acquiesces to her request. When he does, he can't see her smile (naturally) but he can hear her scurry back to her side of the tent quickly. There's a tiny muffled conversation, one-sided, words unclear, with some peeping sounds of a familiar bird-friend in reply, before the sound of her boots approaching this time grow louder.

There's an awfully hopeful note in her voice.
]

Okay, you can open them now.

[ And what, pray tell, does Jaskier behold?

Hootle. But not just any Hootle.

Finding fabric scraps in a orange-red match to his garb took some doing, but there's a tiny owl decked out in a tiny mock-waist coat, a little scarf about his throat, and a jaunty little hat atop his feathery head. The gifted feather has been carefully attached to said hat, and Hootle puffs up a bit, trying to look as impressive as he thinks Jaskier does.

Wings flap. Fufufuuu?
]

What do you think?

Nadine! Ah, my queen of wolves. How are you?

[Luckily Jaskier knows the difference between being avoided and being set aside in lieu of something far more important. He's been rather thrilled all around since Julie and Nadine came to Cadens (and in far better shape than Geralt was). He's not really sure what to make of Lloyd, but he's certainly not gone out of his way to say anything against him.

He greets her with a bow, considering going to kiss her, but --

You know. That's for certain circumstances.]

That's right. You've yet to see them. [He holds out a white rose for her, the stem thankfully devoid of thorns.] Thank you. It's certainly a rather handy skill when it comes to coin. And cooking. [He smiles, eyes tracking over her dress... which is awfully plain. He should be used to this, shouldn't he? After seeing her in the Horizon? If she could make anything in the world and she crafted a white sweater, there should not be much more expectation there.]

Enjoying the festivities? It feels rather unfair your lot put so much effort into coming to Cadens, and then we... find ourselves here. Destiny, as ever, being fickle and cruel.

You've come closer than others I've seen.

[Effectiveness is reserved for, well. The person who actually captures this thing. From what Viktor has seen, it's likely going to be a feat, and it makes him glad that he can more-or-less exempt himself from the situation.

Alucard does his best to brush off the glitter and Viktor doesn't really have the heart to say that it's probably going to take a little more than that.
]

Well enough. [A sympathetic wince.] It's a good strategy, regardless. I doubt there are many who could give themselves, ah. A quadrupedal advantage.

[If there are, he wants to hear about them!!]

Ah....very new.

[Mat admits it easily with a little smile. Not even a whole month in this world, and still quite unsure of most of it.]

Enough that I'm still trying to get my bearings and figure out just what I'm supposed to be doing.

[Or rather what he's doing here at all, but it seems to him as they're the same thing. It doesn't make much sense to him, that no one asks for anything in return, no one offers them more guidance than vague words. And the longer it goes, the more concerning it seems.]

Everyone's been nice, though. So far anyhow.

[ The shine of glitter in his hair is unmistakable. There's a sense he's made an attempt to get rid of most of it last night, but that by this point he's given up. It's gotten on his pillows, his blankets, the furs that line the tent; he can't give a shit anymore.

(It is also most definitely Jaskier's and Ciri's fault, but that's neither here nor there. What he gets for letting them run off after that thing on their own.)

In any case, it's not to wring the shimmer out that he's found his way into the baths. He's here because it's this or the tavern, and when he passed by the tavern, he could smell. Her. Underneath the wine and ale. Glimpse her thick black waves. So. Fuck. The bath it is. It isn't crowded, but it isn't empty, either—faces both familiar and not. Geralt picks a familiar one and settles beside Julie against the stone ledges. ]

Hey. [ He takes the bottle of wine next to Julie to steal a sip. A circle of pink flowers and bells around his wrist suggests the children from Solvunn may have cornered him earlier. He jingles said bells with some amusement. ] Feel like one of the goats they've collared.

[ customary. that is still something she is growing used to, isn't it? the fact that she and jaskier have a customary greeting. something warm and filled with affection on both sides. it's an odd place to be, considering their history, the things they have done and said to each other. but yennefer doesn't want to stray from the lighter air, so she doesn't. she lets herself follow the sandpiper, lets herself hover just a few feet away, lets herself smile when he turns to her voice and smiles back.

it would be too easy to close the distance and to pull him to her, to hug him tight and perhaps a bit unsteadily. but around them still sit the supporters of thorne, the blues and silvers of the queen. the queen, who had been up on the stage not too much earlier that day. there are eyes everywhere, there are always eyes everywhere, and so as she steps towards him it is with all the straight-backed confidence she would normally have.

he leans down to press a kiss to her cheek - normal, affectionate as well, but not unnatural. and yennefer responds in kind, reaching with her hands to grab his arms, to squeeze once as she kisses his cheek in kind before she pulls away and rolls her eyes. there is something just nearly fond about the movement as her hands drop from him, as she takes half a step away. ]
It's amazing what can be accomplished when not on the run and with access to basic hygeine.

[ there is...a very brief flash that crosses yennefer's eyes. something akin to fear, but also understanding. like something she's said, or thought, or been considering is suddenly in focus.

but then it is gone, and yennefer blinks and her attention is back on jaskier again. another smile. the sandpiper, as if sensing something off, takes leave of jaskier's shoulder and settles back with yennefer again, chirping once or twice. ]

It appears your audience is as dedicated as always, even with your leave.

For now. [Jaskier must add ominously, though it's all in fun. (For now.) Whatever message that Summoned relayed a week ago was certainly about as ominous as his words, if not more so. Gods skulking around like beasts, waiting to strike. And something about Thorne's gods having their names scrubbed from the tomes always has bothered him.

Of course, there's nothing saying Solvunn and Thorne even have the same deities. After all, Solvunn's is rather sexy and animalistic. And not much like a goat, thankfully.

And yes, he absolutely matches the hat to the situation.]

I do so love being surprising. Besides, the Solvunnites seem to love it! Or they... simply like music. You know, I didn't look into it too deeply. Rather open-minded for, ah. Farmers.

I'll take that.

[More effective than most is good enough and then some in this case. The creature is remarkably good at avoiding capture, and if nothing else, it was a good run. Sometimes, you can't ask for much more.

The glitter dealt with (at least in theory, he will realize soon enough he's become a sparklepire), Alucard's full gaze meets Viktor's.]

None others to my knowledge, but I can't say that with full confidence. [He pauses only for a moment, asking for permission to take a seat.]

Ask what you'd like.

There's been no sham trial and casual murder. [I'll take what I can get. For now. It is an awfully low bar, and if in the near future someone has to kill a cleric, so be it.]

It was appreciated, and I should assume there will be at least one repeat performance. Perhaps even with a second person to provide additional rhythm?

[But. The hat. Alucard's eyes move towards it, and there is a considering noise.]

I think there were vendors in the market section selling some interesting hat pins with very different stylings from what is available in Cadens.

[ yennefer, to her credit, did not say anything when she first noticed the figure in the side of the tent. and if an anti-social vibe is one he's looking for, yennefer is giving that off in spades, so it's really not all that surprising that he settles himself diagonally from her at the table. at first, she considers getting up and leaving - after a day full of smiles and useless conversations and putting up the front that is expected of her, she really just. wants to drink alone. but the thing is - she just paid for this bottle of wine. and she doesn't really want to move off to the baths, or head back to her tent to sleep on the ground, and if her companion is alright to simply sit in silence, it might not be all that bad.

except that when her companion sits, though his silence is at first promising, she can feel his eyes on her. the urge to leave rises again, but now yennefer squashes it out of stubbornness alone. she is not moving, and while she doesn't know what his problem is as of yet, she will not be pushed away either.

and then there is the question, and yennefer...well. she doesn't sigh, but she does take a sip from her goblet, exhaling once through her nose as she swallows. ]
Didn't anyone teach you manners? It's rude to stare. [ and that is when she finally glances over to him, giving him a short once-over to make sure she doesn't recognize him. except that the odd feeling of recognition is there - he's not been at the castle, not recently at least, but he doesn't appear new either.

one look at his clothes lets her know enough. her eyes return to her goblet, swirling the remaining liquid around once. ]

If you mean the dungeons of the castle, then perhaps. Does it matter? [ she downs the glass, then sets it down and picks up the bottle to refill it. ] Was there something you wanted? Or are you finished?

Perhaps I'll find one of them.

[Depending on how great the risk. But as it is, Mat's without much in the way in resources or knowledge of this world. That's alright, he knows the value of waiting for stars to align properly. He can bide his time.]

Worse? Fuck me, how dangerous is this world! I thought my own harbored enough horrors...

[He shakes his head, both in sympathy and vague concern for what he might have to deal with while here.]

Well, I hope nothing dire crosses your path at this festival. You seem a pleasant person that ought have a pleasant time.

[It's a rational enough explanation, though Stephen thinks it would hold more water if people walked away from the orb looking utterly disappointed. That doesn't seem to be the case at all. Alternate theory: this is just one very confusing prank pulled on all of the Summoned here, masterminded with someone with a very odd sense of humor.]

Would I?

[It's true, Stephen is dressed like a man hailing from Thorne -- designated not only by his pin, but by his colors. That, however, is a matter of more personal tastes, ones that happen to run parallel with so much Thornean regalia.

He looks over at Viktor, a little skeptical.]

I don't know what they tell you in the- [Eying his pin] -Free Cities, but this isn't part and parcel of Thornean daily life. If there's a trick to it, they haven't told me.

[He will not tout the qualities of this confusing orb, because he has no idea what they are. Clearly, his entrenchment into Thorne's deep and terrible secrets are surface-level at best.]

Why don't you give it a go?

[ Since they parted that day by the portals, Geralt's not seen Amos in person. But he does remember their time in the dungeons, and the other man's silent company. His feelings about that time are complicated—in a way, they had almost felt simpler then—but. Doesn't mean he misses being trapped in a cage.

He means to find Amos in the tavern, but when he sees Amos with Yennefer of all people, he makes the decision to turn the fuck around—though it's entirely possible Amos may have briefly locked eyes with Geralt, or glimpsed him making his retreat the second he lays eyes on Yennefer. Geralt is distinctly absent from the area until late in the evening, where he slips into the bathing pools. He's got a corked jug of mead in hand, which he sets down on the ledge beside Amos. Who looks as though he's sleeping, but Geralt can tell from his heartbeat that he isn't. ]

Thirsty? [ The drinks are decent. May as well take advantage while they're here.

As he leans back, a single blue flower tumbles into the water from his hair—throughout which there are a number more woven in. Solvunn's handiwork. Or Aerith's, in particular. Geralt's left them in because why the fuck not. Prevents him from being pulled aside again. Every time he passes by Solvunn without decoration, they corner him. ]

[ As someone who generally has a distinctly glittery presence, Julie had first reacted with raucous laughter, then sympathetic offers to help try and get rid of it (she did not stop laughing while she offered). And then pretty much every person and item in the tent got their own bit of shine from proximity alone. Contact glitter. By this point, it just seems like part of him, although she still has to stifle a snicker when his reflection in the water shimmers too.

Her own hair is still up in the braids from the Solvunn girls, all the flowers still dotting the pink with white and purple. She has discovered that, if you take them out and then go back the next day, they'll just grab you again, so it seems easier to just leave them in as long as possible. And by now, she's settled mostly on easy; she got her fill of stealing from Thorneans yesterday, and other than a single detour into the Free Cities section, where she was given a can of gloop that she was reassured actually contained a whole meal -- she immediately dropped the can into someone else's bag as they passed by -- she's spent most of the day feeding goats and drinking while watching people hunt for the... animal. She doesn't know what it is, and she absolutely plans to get her hands on it at some point just to pet it, but it's been fun to see all the side effects happen to other people. ]

Hi. [ She chuckles softly, sinks a little in the water as one of her feet rises just above the surface. There's a circlet of bells around her ankle, too. Those children are merciless. ] Maybe they're taggin' us all to try and claim us, take us back with the herd. Might not be too bad, I'm pretty sure they worship those goats.

[ she is out of practice, she's noticed. whereas before she had spent days, weeks, months, years, decades with a controlled expression and withheld tongue, a mask put on for the royal families, the political messes, in part it feels like something of another lifetime. it certainly has been long enough, both back on the continent and the weeks she's spent here in thorne since her dream, that a day like today feels a bit like a decade in and of itself.

yennefer has played her part, and her act is flawless. but here, in the quiet off-hours of the lounge tents, she welcomes the quiet. welcomes the peace her bottle of wine gives her. slowly and in small increments, feels herself relax again. or at least - attempt to - if not for the way each new voice seems to draw her eyes upwards, the way she checks the door. if anything she's aware enough of her surroundings to know when she's been approached, and a glance up from where she'd been staring at her goblet of wine shows her the face of a man she is sure she's seen, if only at a distance, back at the castle. a summoned, certainly, and one in thorne. ]

I'm not expecting anyone, no.

[ she gestures to the empty table space and bench across from her, though it's not quite an invitation. just as she doesn't quite say that she doesn't mind. perhaps because a part of her does, even if another part of her is almost drawn to the idea of company, and her curiosity is piqued enough.

with a slight glance to see if he's going to take a seat or not, she takes another sip from her wine. ]

Thanks. I mean, the worse stuff wasn't here, it was back home, but this place is really only better in some basic ways. [ Like it not being plague-ridden, or close to human extinction, or exploded with a nuclear bomb. ] But for like, everythin' else? Major downgrade.

[ By this point of her stay in Abraxas, she's learned how to pretty quickly discern what kind of world the others come from, based purely on their manner of speech and general comfort with the whole thing. People from modern worlds always stick out to her, so clearly baffled and frustrated by the limitations.

This man is definitely not from a modern world. He might as well have a neon sign on, to her. ]

Let me guess. Upgrade for you?
