Oh, sure, we had a buncha different doomsdays that coulda happened. Some of 'em were basically inevitable. But at the end, it wasn't the super dramatic Bibical apocalypse scene either time. Rotting darkness, we went through that one a few million years before I was born.

[ She is, of course, assuming darkness to mean an ice age. Not literal darkness, that isn't possible, not if the planet already had day and night, right? Julie is aware that she's dealing with magic and time travel and whatever else sci-fi-fantasy that can be crammed into this living nightmare. But if light and dark both existed for his world, then science dictates that one can't just take over. Those concepts are not sentient.

No, no, it's not like that. Imagine you can go into any room and decide the exact temperature you want it to be. Any temperature you like. Heating and air conditioning are what make it happen, they heat or cool air down and then force it out around the house, to keep the temperature you want.
