[ indeed, tony did not go to dinner, because it was . . . a lot is probably an accurate statement. seeing steve, and all of the other people he thought he had unknowingly said goodbye to already, plus having to deal with the uncomfortable elephant in the room . . . he would rather skip that, thanks. which is cowardly, he knows, but he'll get to it. in his own time. he has time to be selfish, now, given this new purgatory.
peter being here, though, was the one sticking point in almost getting tony to go. but he knew he would find him in this throng of people anyway, and while tony isn't necessarily looking for peter, he also isn't isn't looking for peter, at the same time. one of the stalls has caught his attention, and tony is reading something when he hears his name.
his name, which he responds to with a long, drawn out sigh, and he turns, mildly unimpressed (but, definitely, most assuredly, relieved to see that peter is in one piece): ]
