[Viktor has been scrutinized enough in his life to know when he's being sized up. That's clearly what's happening here, though from the look in Tony's eyes he can tell that the focus is not necessarily the more obvious things about him--his stature, his general air of illness, the brace and crutch. No, Tony is clearly weighing his options when it comes to the research. It puts Viktor a little on edge, not knowing just what, exactly, he's thinking.
The good news is that Tony can't keep his mouth shut for very long. Viktor's eyebrows climb up his forehead just a little higher with every additional comment. A proposal, okay. Collaboration.]
It's difficult to be flattered when I understand, at best, sixty percent of what you're saying at any given time.
[Frankenstein? DM? Lightning Level 2? Get outta here!!
Tony's right, though, that Viktor knows the thing he's inventing is entirely new, to the point where there's not even a definition for it, where he comes from--but it exists in other, more advanced worlds, and he's starting to piece together what that means. Computers. Artificial Intelligence. An entity that thinks and makes decisions for itself. Samus had not been so keen to share her knowledge, and had offered him caution. An implication that he should stop. Tony, meanwhile, seems to be tripping over himself to help him solve this problem. Maybe it's the ego. Maybe Viktor really is on to something.
He's not sure he can pass up this opportunity, as much as it pains him to admit it.]
I'll have to talk with my research partner. [Tempting as it is to agree, Viktor reminds himself that he's not working alone, and he doesn't know this man, or his intentions. He needs to step back. Get a second opinion from the person he trusts the most.] He should be back in a few hours. If you return then, I'm sure he'd be glad to meet with you.
[Jayce is glad to meet just about anybody. Viktor imagines such a meeting will be interesting, at any rate.]
But you should know that we have hard lines, when it comes to the use of our technology. We don't build weapons.
[He doesn't want to assume, but basically everyone else who has expressed interest in him or his work has immediately asked him to make a gun. So.]
