"Nonsense, Lysithea." The memory of Edelgard says, picking up her axe and lifting up her axe. "I knew you and Hubert were nearby and keeping watch. I was in no danger."

"Hmph. The fool wanted to be killed, shouting as he did and giving away his position. Chivalrous to the end, these Faerghans." The man in black, Hubert, says dismissively.

"You're not entirely wrong." The real Edelgard says, turning to Thancred. After all, she had to stage a carefully-orchestrated coup just to be able to take her throne and not be a pawn. A week later, she was at war against the Church.

"Not conquest." She shakes her head. "...Though that was a result of what happened. This," she nods around to the battlefield around them. "Is a revolution. Regrettably, there is always a cost when one tries to change the world."

"Now, then." The memory of her carries on. "You have a situation report, Hubert?" Lysithea merely sighs and steps to Edelgard's side, where her armour is stained red from an earlier lucky shot and begins attending to it with healing magic.

"Ferdinand is marshaling our troops now that Dedue's, ah, gambit, has failed." Hubert says, choosing his words with some care. "We've also had a runner from High General Eisner's group across the river." His eyes flash to Lysithea at the mention of Byleth's title, upon which he places a somewhat sharper enunciation. She merely rolls her eyes at the admonishment. "She engaged Rhea in battle and defeated her. Not killed, regrettably," he adds as Edelgard turns to look at him. "Though certainly not for lack of trying on her part. The Archbishop had to be pulled screaming off the field by her own knights when it became clear she was overmatched." He hums amusedly. "It must have been quite the unfortunate spectacle. Regardless, the Knights of Seiros are in full retreat. They appear to be using the Kingdom's collapsing front line to cover their retreat."

Edelgard nods. "And the reinforcements from Gautier? Thank you, Lysithea, that's better." The younger woman nods and steps back.

"Arrived on the field and ran smack dab into Jeritza and his troops." She answers instead of Hubert. "The professor's prediction was spot on again."

"Even down to which house would be arriving." Hubert notes, shaking his head. "Her powers of deduction continue to be uncanny as always. Regardless, the Death Knight certainly lived up to his moniker." He smiles thinly in a rather predatory fashion. "The Margrave's men won't be riding to their king's rescue today."

"Dimitri wasn't my enemy, but he placed himself in the way of her." The real Edelgard continues to explains, her tone carefully neutral. Thancred isn't owed an explanation, but she's aware of how this looks, and she has no desire to sour the man's opinion of her, not when it isn't as clear-cut as it might seem. "Rhea, the Archbishop of the Church of Seiros, or Seiros herself, if you prefer. There have been many others over the centuries, I am sure. Whichever one she chose to hide behind, she was always the Immaculate One beneath it. It was against her I raised the Empire's banners in rebellion. Such a move...made me many enemies."
