When Jesper squeezes back, Sam feels the magic working, an easing to the pain behind his eyes. Sam waits a moment and then another for the pulsing in his head to slow before he lets out another breath. Okay. Okay.
He snorts, once, at the comment about this all being relative - mostly because he's not wrong. But little does Jesper know Sam has already seen some of Inej's secrets. Seen a little of the way she froze, waiting to hear what he'd seen, the way he'd known there was so much more he could have seen.
Jesper isn't Inej, Sam knows, but there is still something lingering even as the memory starts to fade. That feeling in his gut that he can't quite, and doesn't think he really wants to, shake. Jesper helps him up, and Sam takes the offer of help, getting up on his feet and already feeling better, which also means that he catches the nervous energy radiating off of him, the worry that buzzes right under Jesper's skin.
"No- sorry, kid. Not the waffle memory." Sam pauses a moment, here. Considers what it is he wants to do. Then, after that moment passes, he does end up setting a hand on Jesper's shoulder. "I am sorry about your mom."
