Estinien doesn't get many words from her, but the ones he does receive feel weighty. He's not heard of the Singularity, as it happens, but from his perspective, it's easy to work out from context. Something powerful that people of this world can't touch - they need someone else, someone immune to that weakness... Much like Himeka on the first, with her blessing of Light allowing her to combat the Light Wardens in a way that the locals never could.

He glances at Himeka warily as he thinks of it. It starts to make sense. Thorne is in need of pawns that can engage with this source of power, and Ambrose would refine those he received to the ones he could control. Yet, what does that mean for the rest of them? How long will Ambrose suffer to keep such loose ends? Or was it to be a suicide mission from the start, fodder for the front lines?

He falls silent, recognizing plausible deniability when he sees it. He'll remember her, if he survives the coming days.

"Naive of you to think they tell us wretches anything," he scoffs bitterly, instead of pushing further. He looks away from her, staring out at the free world that will soon be taken away from him again. "He would see us murdered for the consequences of his own mistakes."
