None of it sounded good, to Goro. "Perhaps they fawn over you all so much because they don't want you investigating what rituals really go on in the deep woods, eh?"
"They do, or at least the leadership does, though they would vociferously declare otherwise if you pressed them." He replies. "It's all rather aggravating, this...dancing about. They want the war, but they do not want to be responsible for the war. Ridiculous. But a very human sort of attitude, I have found." And on that, he feels the need to elaborate.
"You humans, you have this idea that "good" and "evil" are some sort of...universal constants." He carries on. "That some actions are one or another, that some people commit to one side or the other. To fight to defend yourself in a war is good, to start a war is evil, especially if the war is not built on some...glorious, enlightened purpose. The whole thing is, of course, utter folly. Good and evil are not universal constants, they are, in the end, the privilege of the powerful to decide. When those with strength declare something to be good, and just, and all who would say otherwise are dead or cowed into submission by one way or another, who's to say it is not? And so, it becomes good, and just, and all those other pretty words that are used to dress them up, but that's all it is. Dressing up."
Satisfied, Goro folds his arms over his upper chest. "Power is the only real universal constant. And as the powerful, we—" He stares intently at Wanda as he says this "—are the arbiters of its use. I trust you will remember that." Out of all the humans here, especially in Captain Wilson's circle, by one way or another, Wanda is the one Goro feels most likely to take the Shokan's wisdom to heart.
