Goro doesn't deny her observation of responsibility, but instead nods slowly. "Yes. It is." He agrees. "It is our burden as much as it is our privilege." It is a lesson Goro's own father has worked to impress upon his son. "Therefore, it must have a counterweight to balance." Goro squares his shoulder, closing his eyes and tilting his head upwards, his expression solemn. "I remember my duty. My only duty. To my people. As King I will be steward to the Shokan's destiny, and I will see us rise like never before, no matter what it takes." He can see it now, the glory he will lead the Shokan to, and it is beautiful.

Wanda's observation is not an uncommon one. Certainly in a Realm like Outworld that would seem to be the case, or at least was while Shao Kahn was still Emperor. But this also is a falsity. "A common misconception." He says instead. "Power does not corrupt, it takes what is already there and simply makes it...more." The very nature of power itself.

"You and I are, are more ourselves than many people can ever hope to be. But that makes no more good or evil. We simply...are, in a way that lesser people will never understand and appreciate, so they assign us the label of good or evil to fit into their simplistic worldview because it is the only way for them to make sense of it. Whether we are heroic or corrupt in their eyes all stems back from that fundamental difference. They are chains by which the lesser seek to bind us. Do not let yourself fall into that trap, for you diminish yourself by doing so."
