[ sam appreciates that castiel doesn’t push, though age would explain it, if asked. he’s not in the place where he feels the need to hide truths from other summoned, especially not when he knows enough about cas to trust him.

it is the comment, the next logical step that castiel makes, that has sam exhaling. ]
That’s the running theory. Between their horizon domains disappearing, and the means in which people just kind of. Poof…it’s just hard to tell if it’s the Singularity losing connection, or the people who brought us here in the first place.

[ sam nods, agreeing with cas’ concerns, with the focus on the singularity rather than the factions themselves. he can see why that’s where his attention goes, understands his focus on it.

but sam…can’t really fully agree, and there’s a moment’s hesitation before he keeps speaking. ]


They’re not totally separate things, unfortunately. These qualms they have are driving people who didn’t have any real care about the Singularity to using it, to studying it. Before us, the Cities were more concerned with their tech. Now? Well. It’s not really a coincidence that there are more of us in Cadens than any other faction.

[ because sam had gone with him - down the tangent, the line of thinking, and then back again when cas looks over. sam, for his part, smiles. friendly, warm, used to it. he shakes his head, clapping a hand on cas’ shoulder. ]
