True. With a truck, all you gotta do is fill it up with gas every now and again, but that's not so often, depending on how you're driving.
[A little laugh, at that last bit.]
I figure I'd prefer flying too. Who wouldn't?
[Ches has to admit he agrees with the other man's assertion that it would be pretty boring if everyone was adhering to complicated or overly-formal proprieties.]
Sounds like the type of place I'd go completely nuts.
[The explanation of the other man's world is interesting, it sounds like he's from a very different type of place than Ches is. Lots of war between Empire and Kingdom and Alliance. It also sounds like the other man is someone of importance, some kind of general or something. Ches's eyes widen. He's certainly no one as important as all that back home, and he wonders for a moment what the purpose of them calling him here was when there are so many other people who are important like that.
Then again, it's not like he hasn't got his own set of skills and leadership ability.]
Sounds like you were a pretty important guy. I'm just a farmer on this lovely little patch of ground. Raise goats and cows and some horses, plow the fields, harvest vegetables and hay and all that. I haven't gone through anything like a full-fledged war, the country I live in is pretty damn peaceable and well-liked in the world.
[A shrug.]
Worst I've had is some spats with neighbours.
[That is, of course, seriously underplaying it. The battles he'd fought with the Jones Pack, but more importantly with the Wraith, the supernatural hunters, had been bloody and violent, if small-scale. But "I'm a werewolf" isn't exactly the healthiest thing to say when you're first meeting someone.]
