Thancred has seen Stephen injured and frustrated with himself, has seen him aching with pain from too much time spent on a saddle, has even seen him sleep-deprived and at the end of his rope trying to decipher an incomprehensible text. Yet this is markedly different. ]

[ They've primarily spent time in Thancred's domain, but if Stephen is in this sort of mood, being close to home (in a sense) might be best.
